2026 general election

Parties running together must notify the relevant electoral board within ten days of the election call.

Between the fifteenth and twentieth day after the call, parties submit their lists to the provincial electoral boards.

Wednesday, October 28
The submitted lists are published in the BOE and the official gazette of each province so they can be corrected or challenged.

Monday, November 2

Fifteen days of campaigning, opening with the traditional midnight poster-hanging.
Thursday, November 19
Requests are made at any post office or online with digital ID, up to the tenth day before the vote.

Monday, November 23
From the next day the poll blackout set by the LOREG applies. On Su Momento, the average and the projection freeze on this date.
Wednesday, November 25
The envelope with the vote must be handed in at the post office no later than the fourth day before the vote.

Friday, November 27 · 24:00
The campaign ends at midnight at the start of the day before the vote. No canvassing is allowed from then on.
Saturday, November 28
No campaign events or electoral propaganda. Polling stations are set up for the next day.
Sunday, November 29 · 09:00
Polling stations open from 9:00 to 20:00. The Canary Islands close at 20:00 local time, 21:00 on the mainland. No exit polls are published before then.
Sunday, November 29 · 21:00
The Interior Ministry starts publishing the provisional count from 21:00 mainland time. You will see it live here.
Legal note
The LOREG bans the publication or dissemination of electoral polls during the five days before the vote (article 69.7). For this election, from 24 November at 00:00 to 29 November at 20:00 mainland time. Exit polls may only be published once the polling stations have closed.
